Sarah Carter's Biography

Sarah Carter is a British author and poet. She grew up in the small village of Oxenhope in the North of England, before moving to Skipton and Hull in adulthood. She left school at eighteen with no desire to go to university. Instead, she worked for several years before going to night school to gain her first degree in Event Management in 2015, and then later her second degree in Clinical Psychology in 2024.

Sarah has struggled with dyslexia her entire life. As a child, the thought of any literary career seemed completely laughable to her (and her friends) due to her struggles with spelling and grammar. It wasn’t until she started her tertiary education, that she found a fondness for writing, and developed her own writing style that was both engaging and broke many grammatical rules.

As an adult, Sarah was in an abusive relationship for nine years and has experienced the perils of both family court and the police. Since the end of her relationship, she has dedicated her life to helping other survivors heal from the psychological impact of domestic abuse. Her books are dedicated to all survivors, of all genders, sexual orientations and ethnicities, and are deliberately written in a gender-neutral manner to reflect this.
